About Ruamjai Legal

A Practice Built on Patience and Respect

We started Ruamjai Legal because family matters deserve a different kind of attention — slower, more personal, and deeply considerate of everyone involved.

Our Story

How Ruamjai Legal Came to Be

Ruamjai Legal was founded in Bangkok by a small group of Thai-qualified legal practitioners who had spent years working in larger firms. Over time, they noticed a recurring pattern: families going through difficult transitions — separation, parenting changes, the need for written agreements — often felt rushed, confused by terminology, and uncertain about where they stood.

The practice was set up in 2019 with a specific intention: to slow things down. To give families the room to think. To explain options in plain terms. To make sure both parties — not just the one who walked through the door first — were treated with consideration.

The name Ruamjai, which carries a sense of hearts coming together, reflects that original intention. Most of the families we work with are not adversaries. They are people who need help reaching a workable outcome with as little harm as possible.

Our Mission

What We Are Here to Do

Our work is to help families navigate legal matters that are also deeply personal. We focus on three areas: cooperative separation guidance, shared parenting arrangements, and mediated agreement drafting. In each area, our aim is the same — to help both sides reach a clear, fair outcome without the process becoming more painful than it needs to be.

We work only with families, and only with matters that can be approached cooperatively. We do not take contested litigation. This focus allows us to remain grounded in what we do well.

Our Standards

How We Approach Every Matter

Principles that guide every conversation, every document, and every engagement.

Strict Confidentiality

Every detail shared with us stays within the engagement. We follow Thai legal professional confidentiality requirements as a baseline and go further in practice.

Thai Law Compliance

All advice and documents are prepared in accordance with the Thai Civil and Commercial Code and relevant family law provisions. We stay current with legal developments.

Plain Language Always

We do not use legal jargon when plain words will do. Every document and summary we produce is written so that a non-lawyer can read and understand it clearly.

Pacing That Respects You

We do not rush matters to close files. Each engagement moves at the pace the family needs, and we will always discuss timing openly before taking next steps.

Written Summaries

After every consultation, you receive a written summary. This ensures nothing is lost between meetings and gives you something to refer to when making decisions.

Transparent Pricing

Our service fees are clear from the outset. If something falls outside the agreed scope, we discuss this with you before any additional cost is incurred.

Our Approach

Family Law That Keeps Families in Mind

Ruamjai Legal operates from Ratchathewi, central Bangkok, serving families across the city and those managing matters involving parties in different locations. Our focus is narrow by design. We work in three service areas — separation guidance, parenting arrangements, and agreement drafting — because this focus allows us to do each one well.

Family legal matters in Thailand are governed primarily by the Civil and Commercial Code, Books V and VI. Within that framework, there is considerable room for families to reach their own arrangements, particularly where both parties are willing to work cooperatively. Our role is to help families understand what that framework allows and to help them articulate and formalise their own decisions in a way that holds up over time.

We frequently assist families where one or more parties hold foreign nationality. Thai family law applies to matters occurring in Thailand, and we explain clearly how that applies to international situations. When matters touch on the laws of another country, we say so and can suggest appropriate local resources.

Privacy is a word that gets used often in legal contexts and sometimes means little in practice. For us it means that we do not discuss your situation with others outside the engagement, that our office conversations are held in a private room, and that written materials are handled with care. We take that responsibility seriously.
