Common Questions

Questions Families Often Ask

What happens during the first consultation?
The first consultation is a quiet, private conversation about your situation. We listen, ask a few questions to understand the circumstances, and explain what options are available. There is no pressure to decide anything during this meeting. You will receive a written summary afterwards.
Do both parties need to attend together?
Not necessarily. Many clients speak with us individually first. If at some point it would help for both parties to join a conversation, we can arrange that in a way that feels comfortable. Nothing is forced.
How long does the process usually take?
Timelines vary with every family. Simple agreement drafting may take a few weeks. More involved matters such as parenting arrangements depend on the complexity and how both parties engage. We will give you a realistic sense of timing once we understand your situation.
Are the fees fixed or will they change?
The prices shown for each service reflect the scope described. If additional work is needed beyond that scope, we will discuss this with you clearly before any further costs arise. There are no surprise charges.
Is everything we discuss kept private?
Yes. All conversations with Ruamjai Legal are held in confidence. We do not share information about your matter with anyone outside the engagement without your knowledge and agreement.
Can you assist with matters involving non-Thai nationals?
Yes. We regularly assist families where one or both parties hold foreign nationality. We work in English and can explain how Thai family law applies to international situations. Where foreign law is also relevant, we will say so clearly.
